SiC MOSFET Device Theory and Electrical Test Methodology

Semiconductor Industry contributes to one of the largest market share today. In October, 2017 Semiconductor market has surpassed USD 35 Billion per month worldwide and emerged as one of the important industry sector in the world. MOSFET industry contributed USD 6 Billion or 17% of the total Semiconductor shared market make it as one of the popular device that could be used in most of any applications for eg. Power modules, memories, processors, image sensors, switches, regulators, power amplifiers, mixers, PA systems, Automotive industries, biomedical engineering and many more. As the growth continue to happen year to year. It is important for the Test Engineers to understand the Device Theory of MOSFET together with the Test methodology in order to design the most optimized test plan for the chip to improve the throughput, reduce significant cost, boost the process yield, minimize waste from yield and at the same put the Quality at the highest priority.

The knowledge will also enable the test engineers to look for advanced technique in Testing such as multiple DUT testing, parallel testing, looping test, DUT re-socketing etc to increase the productivity and improve the UPH. In addition, the engineers can use the knowledge to design a test program that can perform product characterization based on the criteria set by the Quality engineers and therefore boost the knowledge on the product itself. The understandings of the Test Methodology will also help a test Engineer to design a test module that is able to catch a process excursion either in assembly or wafer fab process to catch any quality issue, product defect, assembly problem etc.

Any excursions for example can be detected and automatic triggering mechanisms such as SMS etc can be implemented real time for the Engineers to put the CA as soon as possible. This knowledge will also help the Test Engineers team to put optimized TTR process by looking at the statistics on the most stable parameters that cud be eliminated in order to speed up the test time.

In a nutshell, this training is very suitable for Semiconductors Test/Quality/Product Engrs in Penang who want to learn the basic test methodology before designing the real test program for their products.

Industries: Semiconductor, Electrical appliances, home consumer electronics application, computers

Ahmad Nasser is a seasoned engineer-turned-trainer with over 25 years of industry experience spanning semiconductor giants including Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, Avago, and Broadcom. Having spent the early part of his career working across Malaysia and the United States — including postings in Oregon, Arizona, and Santa Clara — Ahmad brings a rare blend of deep technical expertise and real-world industry perspective to every training engagement.

Ahmad holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Master of Science in Electronics Design from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He is an accredited HRDF trainer and a certified TVET trainer in Industrial Automation, and has been delivering professional training since 2010.

Before transitioning full-time into Learning and Development in 2017, Ahmad served as a Principal Engineer at Broadcom, where he designed and managed complex database systems for probe and test operations using Perl, MySQL, and Oracle. That hands-on, problem-solving background is what sets his training apart — learners benefit not just from theory, but from the insights of someone who has built, debugged, and optimised real systems at scale.

Ahmad is widely regarded as a Perl expert, with over a decade of advanced programming experience and a strong track record of delivering both basic and advanced Perl courses across the semiconductor industry. His technical training portfolio is extensive and spans programming, electronics, and engineering methodology.

Technical training areas include:

Basic & Advanced Perl / Python Programming
